CHARLOTTETOWN – The Island Storm is pleased to partner with the City of Charlottetown to host the first-ever Family Tailgate Party before our marquee New Year’s Eve matinee against the Halifax Hurricanes.
The tailgate will begin at 12-noon on Sunday in the Trade Centre building, which is connected to Eastlink Centre on Kensington Road.
Island Storm players and staff will be serving free hot dogs to all who attend the free event. In addition, Par-T-Perfect will have three bouncy castles on-site for children to play.
On Thursday the city announced its outdoors New Year’s Eve celebrations were canceled due to reports indication the weather could drop to a blistering -25 degrees with the wind-chill.
“Thousands of Islanders look forward to the city’s spectacular New Year’s Eve celebrations each year,” said Storm Vice President Brett Poirier. “It was clear city staff was disappointed to make yesterday’s announcement but we’re thrilled they were so eager to find an alternative way to provide a day of fun to many residents.”
After the tailgate celebration, all are encouraged to make their way to Eastlink Centre for the Storm game. The team will be offering a free youth ticket (anyone 12 and under) with the purchase of any adult or senior ticket. The Storm currently sits at first place in the Atlantic Division and has won five-straight home games.
Prime seating is already limited so anyone looking to secure his or her seats can do so up until 8:30pm at the box office today. You can also claim a free ticket by calling the box office at 902-629-6625. The box office will be closed Saturday but opens Sunday at 11am.
Anyone who has purchased a youth ticket before today’s announcement will be given a free ticket for another game.
