CHARLOTTETOWN - The Island Storm has announced Thursday its pre-season schedule for the upcoming NBL season.
Fans will get their first peak at the new look Storm at Montague Regional High School on December 14 for a 7 p.m. intrasquad game. A few days later on December 16 at Charlottetown Rural High School, the Storm will play another intrasquad game, also at 7 p.m.
The team is set to host one exhibition game on island soil this year, taking place December 20 at UPEI against the Cape Breton Highlanders. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Storm is also tentatively scheduled to play a pre-season game in Moncton on December 18.
“We welcome the Island Storm to our new stadium seats and appreciate their support of UPEI Panthers Basketball. We hope we will have a great show of support from both Panther fans and Storm fans,” said UPEI Athletics Director Chris Huggan.
It will be an exciting day as both Panther’s Basketball head coaches’ Greg Gould and Tim Kendrick will team up with coach Joe Salerno and members of the Storm to engage young basketball players in a fun and active clinic prior to the game. More information will be released on the kid’s camp and how to register over the coming days.
Funds raised from the exhibition game will go towards UPEI’s Athletics department with special consideration towards the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Tickets for the exhibition game at UPEI are only available at the door. Adult tickets will cost $10, seniors (over 55 years) can get in for $7, children under 18 and students with a valid student ID will get in for just $2.
Tickets for both intrasquad games are on a first-come, first-serve basis and can only be purchased at the gate. Adult tickets costs $7, seniors (over 55 years) cost $5, children under 18 and students with a valid student ID will get in for just $2 to either intrasquad game.
All proceeds from the intrasquad games will go towards both school’s athletic programs.
Fans are reminded the Storm merchandise tent will be on location at all three events with new items just in time for the holidays.
