Storm fall to Mill Rats in close finish

The Island Storm fell to the Saint John Mill Rats during a St. Patrick’s Day game by a score of 110-107 at Eastlink Centre.  

Led by Gabe Freeman and his 38 points to go along with nine rebounds, the Mill Rats climbed out of a difficult first half and topped the Storm.

After heading into the locker in a 50-50 tie, the Mill Rats opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run.

With Malcolm Grant sparking an interesting finish, and with 2.1 seconds on the clock following a timeout, Grant was unable to get off a shot as time expired.

In the loss the Storm were led by Grant who finished with 23 points and five assists.

The Storm falls to 10-16 on the season, while the Mill Rats improve to 14-10.

The Island now turns its focus on the Moncton Miracles, who are in town on Sunday, with tip off set for 2 p.m. All fans are encouraged to wear purple to the game in support of family violence prevention.
