The Island Storm will travel to Montague next week as part of the team’s mission to visit every school in the province.
The main event is a team practice at Montague Regional High School on Tuesday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
“The Montague High Phys. Ed. Department is excited to host an Island Storm training session,” said Natasha Nabuurs, the school’s athletic director. “It will provide our students with the opportunity to interact with professional athletes, who are excellent role models for the healthy, active lifestyle we try to promote in curricular, interscholastic and intramural programs.”
In total the team will be at seven local schools throughout the day.
The visits start in the morning with players appearing at Cardigan Consolidated School, Vernon River Consolidated School, and Montague Consolidated School.
“The players will participate in an assembly intended to create awareness around bullying and the promotion of principles related to hard work, determination and courage,” said Norbert Carpenter, principal of Montague Consolidated.
After the morning visits and practice, players and coaches will visit Dynasty Restaurant, which specializes in Chinese and Canadian cuisine.
Following lunch the players will visit Georgetown Elementary, Southern Kings Consolidated School, and Montague Intermediate School.
All students seen by the team will receive free tickets to our upcoming games on Thursday, March 17, and Sunday, March 20.
